"The Theology Program" - Humanity and Sin |
|
Taught by Jerry Berry
-
Downstairs
- Room 130
This course is a study of the nature of humanity and sin. We will
look at the nature of humanity from a biblical perspective by
examining the pre-fall and post-fall state of man. We will see how
these issues were dealt with from a historical perspective by
spending much time on the debate between St. Augustine and Pelagius.
Attempt will be made to understand the implications of man being
created in the image of God. Debates about the origin and nature of
sin will be examined by asking questions such as: What is sin? Where
did it begin? Why did God allow it? Are there different types of
sin?
Lecture/Workbook/Cost: $15 for workbook |

"Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe"
- Just Because "Everyone Believes It" Doesn't
Make It True |
|
Led by Clifton Curry
- Downstairs - Room 132
People don't set out to build their faith on myths. But somehow
falsehoods keep showing up in the way many Christians think about
life and God. These beliefs are assumed by millions to be rock-solid
truth ... until life proves they're not. The sad result is often a
spiritual disaster - confusion, feelings of betrayal, distrust of
Scripture, and loss of faith or anger toward both God and the
church. But it doesn't have to be so. In this study we will confront
ten widely held beliefs that are both dumb and dangerous. Beliefs
like these: Faith can fix everything. God brings good luck.
Forgiving means forgetting. Everything happens for a reason. A godly
home guarantees good kids ... and more. Get ready to be shocked,
relieved and inspired in the pages of Ten Dumb Things Smart
Christians Believe ... Because myths can get you hurt.

"Revival
Through Prayer" - Old Fashioned Wednesday Evening Prayer Service -
Based on II Chronicles 7:14 |
|
Led by Jerry Dunn - Downstairs - Room 136
II Chronicles 7:14, "If
My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their
land. Intercessory prayer is a prayer for others. An intercessor
is one who takes the place of another and pleads another's case. It
can be defined as "holy, believing, persevering prayer whereby
someone pleads with God on behalf of another or others who
desperately need God's intervention." This class will be a time of
earnest prayer for God's hand to be on our nation, church, family
and friends who are unsaved.

"What
Can We Know About the End Times?" |
|
Taught by Bob Mason - Downstairs - Room 131
No
biblical subject brings out the imagination in people more than
"Prophecy". Some people look into the prophetic books and always
seem to find things that are sensational. Often their conjectures
cannot be supported - neither by content or by context. These
lessons will cover end-time events that we know will take
place. No amount of effort can stop the clock of history. No mortal
- no matter how influential, wealthy or well know - can break the
passage of time. Every day that passes, every tick of the clock,
brings us closer to the dramatic events predicted in the Bible. We
can prepare for the inevitable, we can put time to good use, but we
cannot stop it, not ever for a moment. Christ, who loved us and gave
Himself for us, IS coming - it may be today! Life is now more
exhilarating now. Each day is an understanding now. Each day is an
understanding of how God's program for the future has turned our
life around.
